I think this is what we call a snake’s head fritillary in Europe. They are lovely.
You found my favorite bulb ! Apparently they smell like death though !
One source described their smell as ‘foxy’…apparently that’s a bad scent! Flowery is good and foxy is bad, how many people know what a fox smells like?
It is fritillary and I planted some in fall…hope to see it this spring..supposed to repel voles as well as being beautiful.
