Cherries

Today I followed a scented trail through the Washington Park Arboretum in Seattle. My eyes lifted up to branches filled with soft petals of pink and white. The trees seemed to be emerging from a dark and wet winter. Moist mossy branches stretched sunward, up to the sky. They seemed to say ‘we have endured an endless winter, but have now broken through a dark galaxy of night. Spring is here…it’s time to celebrate!’ What better way to express this season of light and joy than to create a covering of shimmering blossoms. Humans dress up for a party, trees decorate with flowers. Soft and silky, slightly fragrant, accessorized with glistening dewdrops. The colors were fresh white. Bright and startling against the blue sky. Pastel pinks. Baby pinks. Newborn pinks. Silently crying, we are born! Welcome to the world.
