Rio in Winter

Winter Rio

Today I visited my container Rio that I put together last May.  It was a joyful reunion.  I enjoy seeing the plants I put together go through each season.  I was hoping this container would have something interesting all year.  Sure enough the flax was holding it’s own.  The larch tree still had a beautiful outline in dormancy, with green buds just starting to burst open again.  The heather was overgrown, but okay.  I’m looking forward to some editing, pruning and planting for Rio 2012.

  1. I love the idea of a weeping larch, and in a pot! In Germany the larch is “Tree of the Year 2012” and there are many in the woods around here.
